Berber women have been extracting argan oil or hundreds of years. Although there have been technological improvements, the authentic and traditional method is still thought to be the most effective way to extract the oil.

The process starts with the argan fruits found on the argan tree. The berber women crack open the fruit to obtain the argan nut inside. They crack each nut open one by one to reveal the argan kernels. The argan kernels are slightly roasted to give the argan oil a nutty aroma, or sometimes left unroasted for no fragrance at all. These kernals are now cold pressed using a handmill, to release a golden brown sticky mixture.

This mixture is stored in a vessel for a few weeks to allow the argan oil to separate from the remaining plant residues. This creates pure unfiltered organic argan oil.
