Whilst there is no research to categorically say argan oil can directly prevent or help with hair loss, there is research that highlights how it helps with scalp and hair health.
By improving general hair health it can contribute to the prevention or delay of hair loss.
You can do this by first of all improving your scalp skin health to ensure good foundations and then your general hair health – both of which argan oil benefits.
This is because argan oil has a mix of healthy fatty acids, anti-oxidants and is also abundant in vitamin E.
The fatty acids help to keep your hair and scalp hydrated specifically because of the oleic and linoleic acids, which lubricate the hair giving it a healthier look and feel, especially if it is dry, damaged or dull.
This lubrication also has a protective, strengthening effect on the hair, especially if you find your hair is thinning as it creates resistance to combing and breakage from additional hair styling e.g. heat styling.
Anti-oxidants and vitamin E improve your hairs elasticity, which is your hairs ability to stretch, again helping to improve strength and reduce breakage which could result in further hair loss.
Argan oil is known to be anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, which helps with flaky and dry scalps, as well as improving your scalp skin condition.
This helps preserve the hair cuticle which is the outer layer of the hair strand, and can again prevent hair loss and hair shedding.
